The World Fireworks Championship

The World Fireworks Championship is one of the largest pyrotechnic competitions in the world. The competition takes place annually over three weeks in December and features separate fireworks displays from six international pyrotechnic production companies.

Competitors come from all over the globe, with participating teams providing a 25 minute long 'pyromusical' show for the attending crowds.

At the end of each display, a score is awarded by a team of four international judges. By the tournament's conclusion, the competitor with the highest score is presented with the Winner's Trophy, which is made from solid gold. The design of the trophy is influenced by the host city taking part.

As all of the firework displays are synchronised to music, each display is broadcast over the host city’s local radio stations. The host city does not take part in the displays but provides the setting for the closing ceremony and winner’s banquet.

Host Country - Sultanate of Oman

The Oman World Fireworks Championship 2010 was one of the largest and most spectacular fireworks competitions in the world. The Championship formed part of the 40th National Day Celebrations of the Sultanate of Oman, becoming the largest fireworks event ever held in the Middle East.

Coming from Europe, Asia, Australasia and the Americas, six of the world's very best pyrotechnic production companies put their skills, artistry and technological know-how to the test, as they battled it out for the coveted Champion's Trophy.

The Oman World Fireworks Championship 2010 took place amongst the palm trees and fountains of Al Qurum Natural Park, located in the heart of Oman's capital city, Muscat. Each individual display was carefully choreographed to music and guaranteed an unforgettable experience for all who attended. Each display was broadcast live over radio, and featured on local and national television stations.

The Winner's Trophy was awarded to Lacroix-Ruggieri of France, with second place tied between Panzera of Italy and Vulcan of China.

The Event was organised by the High Committee for National Day (Oman), Official Oman World Fireworks Championship Organising Committee, Al Taseheel Al Wataniya and The World Fireworks Championship Limited from the UK.
